Description
Our client, a media and broadcasting giant require a DevOps Technician for an initial 6 month contract based in Leeds.
The ideal candidate will have the following key competencies and experience:
- Experience with and an understanding of the strengths of graphing, monitoring and alerting tools such as Graphite/NodeJS, the ELK stack, Splunk, Nagios/Opsview/Icinga and Slack.
- Experience with Red Hat Linux running on large Servers.
- Strong knowledge of Linux server monitoring using tools such as sar and collectd.
- Familarility with Informix or another relational RDBMS, eg Oracle, DB2, Sybase, is an advantage.
- Strong script writing skills, especially in bash and Perl.
- Basic SQL skills: selects, joins, subqueries etc.
- Experience of configuration management tools, specifically Chef with Ruby skills an advantage.
- Experience of working with version control software (git) and software development life cycles.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agile development environment with a devops mindset.
