My client requires an Enterprise Data Architect, with the successful individual providing thought leadership, liaising with senior IT and business leaders and guiding them on Data Architecture matters and looking for innovative solutions.
The successful candidate will have oversight for and input into enterprise wide data initiatives and therefore play a key role in helping the client reach its goals of being a truly data focused organisation. Your knowledge, expertise and skills will help support this ambition and help define the data architecture strategy.
The Enterprise Data Architect will have the responsibility for leading the development of the Target Data Architecture and give confidence that the investments made in data solutions across the client are balanced appropriately and materially to support their vision and goals.
The role holder contributes to the overall Data Architecture Governance activities and will act as a strategy lead on projects of high complexity across multiple business areas. The role holder will be accountable for inputting in the local Data & Analytics design authority and also the wider technology - Technical Design Authority to ensure that all significant data initiatives are aligned to Technology Strategy and the data Strategy; accountable for aligning the Strategic Data Roadmap; and serve as an escalation point on projects and programmes.
Key accountabilities:
- Accountable for providing strategic direction for Enterprise Data Warehouse development
- Reviews, advises and defines conceptual, logical and physical data models
- Evaluates, develops and promotes Datamodelling techniques and tools.
- Participates in data movement tool selection and implementation.
- Reviews data transformations for necessity and efficiency.
- Assesses data integration feasibility.
- Advises and defines data integration mapping algorithms.
- Advises and defines data integration framework (source, target) and standards.
- Advises and defines the metadata definitions from current physical to current logical to new logical to new physical.
- Evaluates new data source against existing metadata.
- Sets data administrations standards and guidelines.
Experience/Technical Skills Required
- Experience of working at a senior level in an Enterprise Data Warehouse team in a large complex organisation, such as a bank or financial services
- 5+ years of proven work experience in data architecture and Datamodelling
- Expert level knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional database design
- Knowledge of industry best practices for database design, development and administration.
- Proven analytical skills to properly evaluate and interpret cross-functional data standardisation requirements.
- Proven expertise and skills with business process and data flow modelling.
- A proven track record of resolving complex issues relating to enterprise-wide data architecture within a challenging, dynamic delivery landscape.
- Expert level knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional database design.
- Extensive expertise with data warehouse and business intelligence.
- Expert level knowledge DW/BI stack and Oracle, CA ERwin, SAS, Business Objects & Informatica, Unix Shell programming, SQL
- Understanding of new open source relational and non-relational technology -Hbase/Hadoop, Hive, Postgres, MongoDB
- Awareness of new data visualisation/reporting tools eg Tableau, Pentaho
- Strong background in development & delivery life cycle methodology
- Able to build effective partnerships at a senior level
