GIS Web Developer - OpenLayers 3, JavaScript, Web Mapping
As a GIS Web Developer you will be working on a technically complex and innovative digital transformation project. My client is looking for a GIS Web Developer who has experience in web mapping in an Agile environment. Experience in GOV.UK style User interfaces would be a massive bonus as well as experience in JavaScript design patterns and OpenLayers.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
• Experience of developing user centred, enterprise scale and distributed software solutions
• Experience of the full software development lifecycle using structured and Agile approaches
• Experience of working alongside UX designers in an Agile Scrum team
• Experience in GDS (GOV.UK)style User Interfaces
• Expert JavaScript skills (frameworks and design patterns)
• Integration with REST APIs ( Including Authentication)
• Experience of implementing software solutions using a range of technology platforms, in particular:
• Focus on web and GIS technologies (including ESRI, OpenLayers 3, Leaflet, PostGIS and GeoServer)
• Open source platforms and languages (including Java and Python development languages), and open standards (including open-standards based REST web services)
• Experience with automated test frameworks (including Unit and End-to-end testing) and continuous integration based development (including Jenkins, Ansible, RPM, Artifactory).
• Automated agile, build and test tools and frameworks (including Gradle, Maven, JIRA, JBehave, Cucumber, Selenium)
• Experience with response design technologies and development
• Proven experience in developing secure and accessible (WCAG AA) web front-ends
• A positive and cooperative individual who will actively contribute to the dynamic of a high performing team
Desirable:
• Experience of spatial data and solution architecture
• Knowledge of the land and property sector
• Good working knowledge of the Government Services Design Manual
Role and Responsibilities:
• Provide hands-on technical skills in the development, operation and ongoing improvement of complex, transformational digital services
• Work with Technical Architects to develop and implement elegant, flexible designs (using proven patterns where appropriate)
• Apply a diligent, pro-active approach to documentation and quality assurance
• Work with development teams and product owners to understand and implement features for new and existing services
• All candidates must have the ability to work independently, proactively and be flexible in responding to changing needs and priorities
• All candidates must be able to demonstrate high levels of productivity and quality
