Proteus Europe is searching for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join one of our prestigious clients in Cambridge, UK.Our Client :-
Our client is a dynamic high technology design and engineering company based in Cambridge. They have developed miniature camera technology that captures much sharper images, faster, even in poor low light conditions, while still enabling smartphones to become thinner.
Our client has partnered with leading smartphone camera makers, precision micro manufacturing firms and semiconductor vendors to create high performance, competitive cameras that are easy to integrate with smartphone baseband platforms.
Your New role :-
We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious engineer to join our clients growing team of world-class electronics, control and firmware engineers who will make their mark on our smart actuator technology.
The role will report to the Commercial Electronics Director, who heads up our team developing leading edge electronics and control solutions for our technology.
Primary responsibilities:
- Work within the team of mechanical, control, electronics, firmware and performance engineers to build on the proprietary SMA control algorithms that our client has developed to meet the needs of the market.
- Specify, develop and evaluate embedded firmware solutions to drive our actuator technology, and support transfer of these into high volume production.
- Develop and improve the methods and procedures to enhance our ability to deliver successful products.
- Interface with our clients partners and customers to understand their requirements and to deliver the assistance that they need to use our products.
- Some international travel will be required.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc or BEng in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science (1st Class or 2:1) or other relevant degree course
Your Skills and experience :-
Essential Skills :-
- 5 years demonstrable industrial experience and achievements
- 5 years experience in embedded programming of microcontrollers
- 5 years C/C++ development
- Designing to requirement specifications
- Creating technical documentation
Desirable Skills :-
- Experience in mentoring more junior engineers
- Writing specifications
- Use of Python
- Digital signal processing (DSP)
- Board-level debug and test
- System-level architectural design
Other skills of interest:
- MatLab or Simulink experience
- Assembler-level programming
- Appreciation of Agile development methods
- Closed loop control system design and development
- Transferring new technology into mass production
- Design for manufacture
- Appreciation of mechanical design
