Description
Summary:- In the role of Release Manager you will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of software code in the development, test, and production environments.
- The Release Manager Job function works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their development, QA testing environments.
- The Release Management responsibilities also include building the IT Release Calendar.
- The Release Manager will assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and process execution to ensure the integrity of the release can be measured.
- Decides if/when to move to the next steps in a deployment pipeline
- Maintains and enforces deployment checklist
- Assumes responsibilities for coordinating the entire release and attends triage meetings
- Understands background context of all work included in a release
- Point for all communications between developer, testers, release engineering, and marketing on the actual release day.
- Attend many meetings and facilitate those meetings. This is a highly collaborative role.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
- Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Ability to make and own difficult decisions under pressure.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 2-6 years of previous release and/or project management experience required (must be professional experience), (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred).
- Strong knowledge of software development life cycle.
- Experience with Azure platform is helpful (Visual Studio Team Services, Release Management, Azure IaaS offerings, Azure PaaS offerings) would be a plus.
- Experience with SCRUM and Agile a plus
- 2 years of DevOps experience
- Strong communication skills necessary.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills a must
