Description

Our client, a prestigious tiered supplier to Automotive OEM's, requires an STA Engineer to assist on a contract basis on their customer site in Crewe

The STA Engineer reports to the STA Manager on the required activities in the management and resolution of nominated site supplier issues. They will ensure that all concerns are clearly recorded, reported and resolved in accordance with standard operating procedures. Key skills and experiences include: A degree or diploma in Engineering and a proven track record working in a supplier technical assistance role.

Mission

The STA Engineer will report for day to day activities to the on the required activities in the management and resolution of nominated site supplier issues. He/she shall ensure that all concerns are clearly recorded, reported and resolved in accordance with the customer procedures.

Activities

  • To coordinate and participate in selection of Complex Quality Projects. Ensuring full nomination/engagement of customer Site and Supplier key contacts in project.
  • Responsible for communicating Complex Quality projects requirements (expectations/dates) and status, to appropriate programme and STA personnel on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate and follow up supplier part quality preparation activities in APQP
    • Work with supplier to verify specific production processes are robust.
    • Ensure parts are within specification for each build phase and when errors are identified, develop containments with Product Development to protect build and plan.
    • Work with suppliers to ensure parts are capable.
    • Report high risk issues to Customer Quality Team and escalate within STA team.
    • Work with PMST to understand if supplier tolerance stack up can deliver GAP plan.
    • Confirm Supplier's measurement/gauging plan is robust and holds the parts in a way representative of vehicle fixing points and checks all key features.
    • Ensure effective Quality Wall activity is in place for all known issues at supplier and prior to build of line
    • Participate in Complex Quality team meetings and progress reviews
    • Lead Supplier Deep Dive Review Meetings in all aspects of each Complex Quality Project.
    • Participate in Cross -functional meetings and activities.
    • Support Audit activities and feedback all issues to site STA and Supplier.
    • Ensure Complex Quality Suppliers have a clear project plan to deliver target score for each build phase.
    • Communicate Complex Quality Direction/planting to site STA.
    • Support Programme Team in developing, managing and reporting for Supplier quality requirements.
    • Provide on-site build support for all build events in CQ area.
    • Ensure Supplier recommended assembly methods are incorporated into WES and ensure recording of all critical data through appropriate checklist/data collection. Manage all Supplier Complex Quality issues using customer Quality documents and ensure Real Time feedback on these issues and their resolution.
    • Provide support to taskforce working.

Conditions

The job holder will be based at the customer site and will be expected to spend time away from home potentially working at supplier sites in Europe as required to support the business needs.
