Description

This position is focused on Oracle VM - please only apply if you have relevant experience either as an OVM specialists or as a Systems Administartr or Storage Consultant with Oracle VM x86 accountability.
The successful person will join an international IT organisation that remotely supports end clients in other geographical locations. This is an English speaking initially for 6 months but it will almost certainly extend longer. The worklocation is Valencia, Spain and working hours will be 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, but will also include stand-by services on a rotation basis during weekends, holidays and outside of normal working hours.

As part of the Virtual Server Infrastructure and Enterprise Backup team you will:
  • Assess the existing Oracle VM infrastructure; propose and implement recommendations and improvements
  • Install, manage and support Oracle VM Server x86 environment.
  • Install, manage and support Oracle VM Virtual Servers
  • Implement configurations related to clusters, SAN, multipath, security and user/group administration.
  • Perform regular patch updates.
  • Identify and troubleshoot known problems and document solutions.
  • Design, develop and maintain automation tools aiming at optimising the management of the Oracle VM Virtual Server Infrastructure.
  • Document monitoring and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform required tasks in maintenance windows.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Ideal candidates will have the following:
  • Expert knowledge of Oracle VM, implementing, managing and troubleshooting Oracle VM 3.3.X
  • Experience in migrating of VM between different Oracle VM environments.
  • Good knowledge of Xen, OCFS2 and Cluster Concepts.
  • Good knowledge of Storage Area Networks, LAN, WAN and Internet technologies and protocols
  • Good knowledge of Shell Scripting (Perl, bash, )
  • Knowledge of HP Server hardware
  • Desirable knowledge of VMware and or Microsoft HyperV
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Ability to live and work in Valencia, Spain
  • Have your own Limited company set up or be able to work via an umbrella or as a Spanish autonomo (freelancer)
