Subject Matter Expert - Financial Crime
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: York/Sheffield
Rate: £Market rates
Areas of responsibility and/or delivery:
Provide Strategic insight and challenge, using prior experience of identifying and responding to financial crime risk when using technology at (or in support of) the customer interface and/or customer transactions.
Through liaison with FCT subject matter experts, represent the FCT in supporting growth in the UK Digital and related platform business operations
Insight & ability to challenge the status quo.
Able to provide sound and well articulated oral and written advice/guidance, to demonstrate appropriate risk-based consideration of financial crime risk.
Qualifications and/or systems knowledge
Demonstrable experience of influencing deployment of financial crime risk management principles in technology systems used by UK FCA regulated firm(s) - A mandatory requirement.
Recent lead role in FC prevention and/or risk-advisory work on digital/electronic platforms (B2B and/or B2C) - mandatory
Accustomed to working within a UK FCA regulated firm
Strong awareness of FCA Handbook requirements for FC
Awareness of Electronic Money Regulations 2011
Good awareness of UK: (i) Fraud and bribery law, regulation and industry practice; and/or (ii) Anti-money laundering and financial sanctions law and regulation.
Background in Life & Pensions products
Understanding of financial crime prevention and detection, including: (i) automated screening for financial sanctions and politically exposed persons: and (ii) transaction monitoring - desirable.
Excellent communication skills (eg ability to influence appropriately at all levels).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to interpret business requirements and strategic objectives
A good understanding of where potential conflicts may arise whilst managing project inter-dependencies (eg resource availability, priorities, etc.)
