Description

A well know UK brand are looking for a Senior Web Editor who loves a good story and wants to contribute to building a nimble, entrepreneurial editorial team as part of a digital transformation program the company is undertaking.

The main focus for the first 6 months will be to re-purpose and edit all digital content on the main website while overseeing and taking ownership of all webpage builds within our CMS system (Sitecore) from a copy perspective and making sure the pages are built to design spec with correct TOV applied and writing for mobile first.

The Senior Web Editor will be a highly experienced web copywriter, web editor, man manager and creative content producer who can quickly translate the new marketing brand guidelines and tone of voice into editorial that promotes the products and services and engages our target audience and members. S/he is also highly experienced working with dynamic marketing teams and understands the importance of developing content in line with content strategies and Brand guidelines.

The Senior Web Editor leads conversations with key business stakeholders (product owners) about content needs and takes a lead role in conceptualizing and interpreting internal briefs to produce high quality on brand content.

The Senior Web Editor is a talented content strategist who knows how to develop a story from multiple angles and spread it across multiple channels. S/he is also adept at editorial management, including sourcing and supervising a diverse team of internal and external copywriters and contributors, in addition to building and growing a multidisciplinary in-house team of editors. Besides leading editorial efforts, the Senior Editor plays an active role in people development and shares their knowledge and expertise across the team.

The Individual

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Must have 7+ years' experience creating, editing and publishing for digital websites within a top blue chip company or well-regarded London content marketing/Digital PR agency
  • Must have had experience of managing a team of web editors and copywriters within a digital/online environment creating high quality digital copy fit for use in all digital channels (mobile, tablet, web)
  • Must have the ability to lead the creation and delivery of an editorial calendar which maps with marketing campaign deliverables along with creation of brand awareness content
  • Must have experience writing high quality copy using best practice's in SEO and key word generation
  • Must have experience in following marketing brand guidelines, Copy Decks, TOV guidelines when creating new or re-purposing old content
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and pays attention to detail when proofing reading and editing of editor's work
  • Must be experienced at leading conversations within a content forum to brainstorm ideas on what content teams/agencies will be producing as part of an agreed content editorial calendar
  • Must have a proven track-record writing, editing, producing and distributing digital media stories that grow audiences within all channels including: Twitter, Facebook and You tube
  • Must have experience with using Sitecore CMS content management system or equivalent CMS system
  • Experience of working closely with Content Production teams (internal & external) to plan delivery of work to deadline
  • Experienced at monitoring and building KPI's and metrics to report on progress for webpages built and various stages of the production process.
  • Experience taking a lead role pitching and briefing internal stakeholders about content for there business areas and how content can make for a better customer experience
  • Experience with working directly with UX, PR and creative agencies to understand wider marketing strategies and how they may apply to creating content
  • Adept at developing the creative vision and strategic impact for high-quality content for the brand based on new content strategy
  • Thinks strategically, able to use insight and interrogate data to inform content decisions which feed content generation as part of editorial calendar
  • Strong grounding in content marketing, community management and content distribution channels
  • Ability to grow an external network of writers, experts and contributors who form part of delivering outreach content
  • Enthusiasm for brand journalism and an entrepreneurial view of what's possible
  • Excellent MS Office Applications experience, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Photoshop, In-design and Dreamweaver
  • Good organisational skills including the ability to manage and reconcile competing priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills and can communicate on all levels including director level

Education, Qualifications & desirables:

  • University degree in English language or literature, Journalism or digital marketing
  • Worked with content marketing agencies or PR agencies in an editorial position previously
  • Experience within Insurance/Financial Services is a real benefit
