Description

The Oracle APEX Developer (In-Service Management) will be required to work on the following tasks:

  • To undertake new application design and development work to ensure delivery of robust applications to meet the needs of the customers, undertaking tasks as directed by the Project Manager and Lead Developer.
  • To undertake enhancements to existing applications under the direction of Change Manager (or delegated resource manager) to deliver changes that meet the needs of the customers; while following the technical direction and guidance of the Oracle Lead Developer.
  • The production of relevant technical design documentation to support the application based upon User Requirements Documentation, to the standards specified by the Software Development Standards and in support of the ITIL Service Design Pack (SDP).
  • The production of appropriate Systems Requirement Documentation (SRD) for the application in consultation with the Requirements Analyst.
  • Provision of ad hoc development support as necessary, to ensure the successfully transitions of applications through system testing for subsequent deployment into the live hosting environment.
  • To raise technical and professional issues and/or concerns to IAS non-technical management in a plain English style.

    Essential Skills. It is essential the selected incumbent has the following skills:

  • Oracle Database 10g and 11g.
  • Oracle Apex developer certification.
  • Analysis/Requirements Capture.
  • Oracle WebLogic Server with OAM and OID components.
  • Oracle Application Express 4.
  • SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Oracle BI Publisher.
  • HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX and jQuery.
  • Experience using ApexSec Security Console or similar to diagnose security issues within APEX Applications and provide the necessary fixes.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience of securing APEX Applications using the built in security functions.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience writing user authentication functions based on a shared Oracle OID repository and Oracle Single Sign-On/Oracle Access Manager.
  • The capacity and self-motivation required to meet the demands of Service Design in terms of quality, customer expectations, tight timescales, work-stream management and skills-transfer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills and questioning skills.
  • Desirable skills. The following skills are desirable and are not pre-requisites:

  • VMWare ESX.
  • Microsoft Windows Server .
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.x.
  • Batch, Perl and Shell Scripting.
  • Experience using Serena Dimension or equivalent source control tool.
  • Oracle Application Server 10g and 11g.
  • Oracle Discoverer.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration (Jenkins/Hudson).
  • At least 2 years IS experience of developing and delivering robust enterprise web applications.
  • Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
  • Working within a Data Warehousing project.
  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g/11g.
  • Non-Functional Contractor Requirements[2]

    Security clearance. All incumbents should have the necessary security clearance to be able to access MOD premises and information up to SECRET - UK EYES ONLY; this is the Defence Business Services National Security Vetting Security Check (DBS NSV SC) level of vetting.
