We have a great contract opportunity for an outstanding Systems Administrator/DevOps Engineer to join our Service Delivery team. The contract is for 6 months with the option to renew.
Maybe you are a veteran Linux admin with serious programming interests or a programmer with a passion for low-level Linux problems?
Knowledgeable, thorough and obsessively efficient, you often cross the boundary between 'development' and 'operations'. With a deep disdain for anything inefficient, slow or that requires manual intervention, you'd rather write a script to automate a task than perform something more than once.
We don't expect you to have all the skills we have listed below but you will be able to demonstrate your experience or passion in many of them:
- Strong Linux Skills, you should be able to troubleshoot networking, performance and system issues at the command line.
- Good knowledge of the Unix command set and a Scripting language such as Ruby/Python etc
- Operational or personal experience of Amazon Cloud Technologies such as EC2, RDS, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, Elasticache
- Knowledge of Java, ideally some coding, but at least understanding of the JVM and its core operation relating to memory allocation and threading
- Database Management and Tuning, ideally using MySQL, should be able to monitor database performance, analyse queries and suggest performance improvements
- Implemented Continuous Integration/Testing/Deployment using tools such as Jenkins, Go, Bamboo or TeamCity
- Managed Systems Infrastructure using tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt.
- Used Virtualisation Technologies to build Servers using tools such as Vagrant, Virtualbox, VMWare, Docker
