Position: Sr. Workstation/Server/Citrix Administrator

Location: Columbia, SC

Duration: 12 + Months

Daily Responsibilities:

  • The Citrix Systems Administrator participates as part of a team that ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the client's hosted application virtualization platforms. XenApp, XenDesktop, and NetScaler are primary components.
  • As a member of the System Support team, the candidate will contribute by working Break/Fix issues within the Citrix production environment. Strong Citrix XenApp skill set is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve production incidents in regards to the Citrix environment
  • Perform proactive monitoring of the Citrix server farms for potential issues
  • Oncall responsibilities (rotation)
  • Morning Production checklist responsibilities
  • Analytical skills and logical thought processes in order to formulate solutions to problems
  • Skills to work under stressful situations so that communications with users, IS staff, and vendors.
  • Must have flexibility to be on-call and work weekends, evenings, variable hours when necessary
  • Must be able to multi-task and engage quickly to resolve issues
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Provide Tier II support to resolve complex technical operational problems
  • Knowledge and experience with Provisioning services and virtualizing Citrix Servers.

Job Description:

  • (40%) Administer and deploy infrastructure software to clients including new builds, master files, upgrades, and patches. Record, verify, and coordinate customer requests to ensure appropriate distribution. Establish and follow all related processes such as email notifications and alerts.
  • (20%) Install, configure, and maintain infrastructure software in support of business processing requirements. Develop, compile, test, debug, document, and maintain custom scripts and utilities. Create comprehensive test plans based on configurations and other specifications. Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • (15%) Perform monitoring/maintenance activities of the Workstation/server environment and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Find and troubleshoot problems before they become issues to the user and act as a higher-level support for help desk for certain problems. May consult with senior peers on certain projects.
  • (10%) Develop and maintain custom integration solutions. Establish standard configuration for software packages. Manage/maintain administrative tools for software delivery and remote management.
  • (10%) Ensure continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements. Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and Servers to ensure compliance with the organization's established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • (5%) Develop and maintain a comprehensive infrastructure software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Maintain growth statistics, space forecasts, tape libraries, and software and hardware inventories.
