Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is a global automotive manufacturing company expanding their design team, to include an Electrical Design Engineer, to cope with projects in their mass production automation department. Initially, the position will last 6 months with possibility for extension.

The role is based on the M4 Corridor area and is commutable from Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol, Swindon, Wiltshire, Somerset, Oxford, Reading, Bath and Basingstoke.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to have a key part in driving the design and manufacturing capabilities of this well-established business. The Electrical Design Engineer role would be a desirable position for degree certified Electrical Design Engineer, with experience in relevant mass production machinery industry.

Key skills:
Proficiency with specification and design of schematic circuits, AutoCAD Electrical, PLC Programming (Omron& Mitsubishi), HMI screens (Preface, Omron, Mitsubishi).
Experience with automated manufacturing and special purpose equipment. Commissioning and maturation of mass production equipment.

Desirable skills:
Degree/HND in Electrical Engineering.
Demonstrable experience of successful project target completion.
Body in White process knowledge and experience.
Report writing and presentation skills.
Large and small project control/supervision skills.
Machinery directive/machine building knowledge.
CE requirements and documentation knowledge.
Knowledge of preparing design risk assessments.

Responsibilities:
Specification: Preparation of initial concept, leading to final specifications.
Hardware Design: Preparation of schematics, panel layout drawings, field cable harnesses and compiling parts lists.
Software Design: Design of PLC and Safety PLC software. Design of HMI screens.
Planning: Plan and manage individual design tasks and liaising with Project Leader to contribute towards the overall project plan targets.

Strong planning and self-management, communication skills. Rational problem solving and capable of implementing countermeasures.
Flexible approach to work.
High availability outside of normal core hours, weekends or extra shifts.
