Value Improvement Engineer required for a 12 Month contract across various suppliers nationwide.

Sharing in Growth

Sharing in Growth (SiG) is an innovative and ambitious £110m programme designed to raise the capability of UK Aerospace suppliers, to share in the anticipated growth of the global market and other high value manufacturing sectors. This is the largest regional growth fund backed manufacturing training programme in the UK. It provides concentrated training and development aimed at driving competitive capability to tackle barriers to growth, boost exports and grow the number of high value manufacturing jobs. SiG is a whole company transformation programme, tailored to the needs of each supplier to help achieve world class standards of performance. Role Description:

The focus of a Value Improvement Engineer is to develop and implement appropriate cost modelling practices in selected Aerospace suppliers to help direct improvement activities in support of the Sharing in Growth programme.

To ensure the selected suppliers' cost management processes are capable of meeting and continuously improving their overall cost competitiveness.

Through your hard work, you will be driving and accelerating best practice within aerospace manufacturing; offering the opportunity to develop highly valued manufacturing in the UK. You will benefit from working in a multi-disciplined team deploying best practice tools while taking the learning to further develop them.

Working as a Value Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for:

Assisting in development of the necessary skills to embed the required cost analysis capability in the Supply Chain, ensuring best practice is shared across the business.

Identifying suitable cost models within the suppliers and provide training and coaching to support efficient use of resource.

Coaching and mentoring Buyers/Design Engineers/Integrated Project Team Leads (IPTLs) to optimise cost benefits across the product life cycle.

Sharing knowledge of new technologies and their beneficial impact on future costs.

About You:

The successful individual will enjoy working in an autonomous environment where you'll be empowered to make the recommendations and offer support/development to the suppliers with which you are working. You should be comfortable managing ambiguity, flexible in your approach and enjoy a work programme that offers a variety of clients.

Skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Proven experience as a Value/Cost Engineer/Accountant within the manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing knowledge, particularly on processes associated with Complex Fabrications/Complex Machined products or tooling.

Good IT skills, strong business acumen and analytical skills.

Strong communication and influencing skills are important, particularly within supply chain.

This role will require extensive travel so you must be willing to be on supplier site 5 days per week which would mean you must be willing to stay away from home 4 days per week.
