Description
Major engineering and defence organisation have a current requirement for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer Design and the Design Airworthiness Manager, you will be fully involved with designing the mechanical elements of modifications to these special mission aircraft and their role equipment. As an Engineer with Part 21J Design Signatures you will also be responsible for certification activities.
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer your responsibilities will include:
Taking ownership for the total mechanical design elements of a task or project
Liaising with customer, interfacing sections, departments as briefed
Instigating and attending design review meetings, plus attending planning meetings and contract progress meetings as required
Supervising and motivating staff assigned to the task or project, with particular reference to compliance with all procedures and standards
Liaising with equipment suppliers and sub-contractors
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Mechanical Design signatory
Sound knowledge of mechanical systems, structural and repair design
Strong teamwork skills and a track record of delivering to a programme
Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements related to design
A UK Passport holder able to attain UK Security Clearance (SC)
HND/foundation degree, degree in aeronautical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
Special Mission experience would be beneficial
