Description
One of the UK's largest Charity organisations is currently looking for a Dev Ops Engineer on a long term contract to help their various functions.
Job Purpose
This is a technical hands-on role, the successful candidate will be part of a small team whose primary function will be to enable, accelerate and support the developers and testers working on a US/UK multi-tenancy Adobe AEM platform. The initial contract period is expected to be 3 months.
Key accountabilities
General:
Covering all aspects of the technical support function of the Digital Infrastructure.
Job Specifics:
Provide Linux Sys Admin support to Save the Children UK with a particular focus on system performance and tuning and supporting User Acceptance testing of its AEM platform.
Ensure that sufficient documentation is in place for all hardware systems in the Integration and Staging environments to enable existing and new team members to support the infrastructure.
Ensure the effective and efficient use of all resources in order to keep costs low and ensure safety in the workplace. Pro-actively pursue opportunities continuously to reduce costs and increase efficiency of the server support function.
Work with the 3rd Line infrastructure teams to ensure that all systems and support are aligned with technical and business requirements.
Provide technical input and perspective in project work as required.

Person specification
The successful candidate will be an experienced technical support professional preferably with a DevOps background. He/she will be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of support principles and methodologies backed by clear examples of how they have put this knowledge to use.
Experience:

Exposure to current server and infrastructure support methodologies, operating systems, SAAS and hardware standards. Preferably qualified to a recognised industry standard (eg MCSA).

Proven ability to support infrastructure at 3rd line level.

Experience of communicating technical issues to a multi-cultural, multi-functional audience.

Ability to evaluate, recommend and implement timely, essential improvements to existing processes and services.

Good knowledge of current trends, practices and techniques for optimisation of security, systems and networks.
Technical Skills:

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the following.

Experience in automated environment provision and configuration management using tools such as Jenkins, Chef
-
Working with cloud infrastructure technologies such as AWS/Azure

Common monitoring tools, frameworks and processes, eg Zabbix, LogStash.

Networking and security monitoring tools such as AppScan, Grabber, Nessus

Proven success at conceiving and/or implementing improvements in one or more aspects of DevOps tooling.

Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Tooling (Jenkins, Maven, Ant, Git, Sonatype Nexus, JUnit, Liquibase, Sonarqube, Docker).
Exposure to the following will be of benefit:
