Description

One of the UK's largest Charity organisations is currently looking for a Dev Ops Engineer on a long term contract to help their various functions.

Job Purpose

This is a technical hands-on role, the successful candidate will be part of a small team whose primary function will be to enable, accelerate and support the developers and testers working on a US/UK multi-tenancy Adobe AEM platform. The initial contract period is expected to be 3 months.

Key accountabilities

General:

Covering all aspects of the technical support function of the Digital Infrastructure.

Job Specifics:

  • Provide Linux Sys Admin support to Save the Children UK with a particular focus on system performance and tuning and supporting User Acceptance testing of its AEM platform.

  • Ensure that sufficient documentation is in place for all hardware systems in the Integration and Staging environments to enable existing and new team members to support the infrastructure.

  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of all resources in order to keep costs low and ensure safety in the workplace. Pro-actively pursue opportunities continuously to reduce costs and increase efficiency of the server support function.

  • Work with the 3rd Line infrastructure teams to ensure that all systems and support are aligned with technical and business requirements.

  • Provide technical input and perspective in project work as required.

  • Person specification

    The successful candidate will be an experienced technical support professional preferably with a DevOps background. He/she will be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of support principles and methodologies backed by clear examples of how they have put this knowledge to use.

    Experience:

    • Exposure to current server and infrastructure support methodologies, operating systems, SAAS and hardware standards. Preferably qualified to a recognised industry standard (eg MCSA).

    • Proven ability to support infrastructure at 3rd line level.

    • Experience of communicating technical issues to a multi-cultural, multi-functional audience.

    • Ability to evaluate, recommend and implement timely, essential improvements to existing processes and services.

    • Good knowledge of current trends, practices and techniques for optimisation of security, systems and networks.

    Technical Skills:

    • The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the following.

    • Experience in automated environment provision and configuration management using tools such as Jenkins, Chef

    • Working with cloud infrastructure technologies such as AWS/Azure

    • Common monitoring tools, frameworks and processes, eg Zabbix, LogStash.

    • Networking and security monitoring tools such as AppScan, Grabber, Nessus

    • Proven success at conceiving and/or implementing improvements in one or more aspects of DevOps tooling.

    • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Tooling (Jenkins, Maven, Ant, Git, Sonatype Nexus, JUnit, Liquibase, Sonarqube, Docker).

    Exposure to the following will be of benefit:

    • In-depth experience or working in Java/JVM environment

    • Database administration, using MongoDB, Postgres.

    • Collaborative Tooling (JIRA, JIRA Agile, Confluence)
