Major Retail bank based in Manchester is looking to appoint a Costs Reporting Manager to work on producing high quality MI to high profile decision makers.

Cost Based, Qualified Accountant, MI

The focus of the role is 3 fold:

  • To manage a team providing the standard reports to key stakeholder
  • To drive the development and maintenance of costing/cost reporting models
  • To ensure all regular reports needed by the Finance Business Partners are produced within the agreed timescales and quality.

Areas of Accountability

  • Leads, motivates and develops the team to ensure an effective working environment, one where there is the establishment and the maintenance of expert knowledge, employee commitment and consistently high performance.
  • Manages and agrees the prioritisation of report requests from the Financial Performance, Planning & Analytics and Cost Reduction Programme teams
  • Delivers accurate, timely and insightful financial information to ensure a comprehensive analysis of results, plans, forecasts, trends, cost drivers risks and opportunities.
  • Applies in depth specialist knowledge of costing and project methodologies to deliver continuous improvement of services, improve financial control and deliver robust risk management.
  • Proactively engages with the wider finance community to improve awareness and understanding of the drivers of cost and the impact of associated changes in business strategy.
  • Delivers reporting and first level commentary to support the business in managing and optimising the cost base
  • Builds, maintains and develops relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Provides accurate, timely and insightful financial information each period end to support the production of Board Packs, Trading Review Packs, Investment Forum Packs and reports used by the Finance Business Partners to engage their stakeholders.
  • Drive through the delivery of the Finance Target Operating Model
  • Support the rest of the Financial Reporting team to improve the quality of Finance's wider reporting activity
  • Being a lead advocate in the exploitation of the Oracle OBIA reporting tool across Finance

Decision Making Authority

  • Makes decisions in relation to own area of work within departmental control procedures
  • Prioritisation of own workload consistent with meeting reporting and other agreed deadlines, with escalation and recommendation to Head of Financial Reporting where required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Qualified accountant or equivalent with significant post-qualification experience supporting non-accounting managers in complex financial analysis.
  • Proven experience of managing colleagues in either a project based or line management capacity.
  • In-depth understanding of the application of risk management processes
  • Highly developed financial analysis skills
  • Positive influencing with senior stakeholders, including highly developed presentational skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organisational and people management skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure

Experience of using Oracle OBIA/OBIEE would be helpful but not essential.
