Description
My client is a leading specialist photography retailer in the UK who recently acquired a competitor in London - the acquired company uses Filemaker (v14) as a key component of their internal business systems. The applications they use manage the rental process and have been built in-house by two members of staff. Although they are reasonably IT-literate, they have no formal development background.
The application is suffering from a number of issues:
1. It regularly crashes for no apparent reason. Detailed investigations have yet to conclusively prove the root cause, however we suspect some sort of memory leak. We would like to ensure that the software is as robust and reliable as possible, requiring as few restarts as possible.
2. It is not clear how well the software has been written - we suspect there are many areas which would benefit from re-factoring to improve the performance, maintainability and scalability of the system. We need to do this to ensure that the system is able to cope with a potentially large increase in transactions that may occur in the not-too-distant future.
3. The Filemaker system does not integrate fully with the accounting system (TAS). It would significantly improve the efficiency of staff if we could integrate these systems together, thus reducing the amount of time re-keying data.
We require a developer experienced with Filemaker (v14) to come in and fix these issues ASAP.
This will be a 3 month rolling contract, extensions likely. Rates up to £500 per day
