My client is a start-up energy business funded by Ireland leading electrical provider and are based in Dublin city centre in the IFSC.
Its initial focus will be the UK industrial energy sector. My client is setting up an Engineering team for this new start up and is looking for an experienced Server Side/Applications Engineer with a proven track record in a fast-moving environment.
The Server Side/Applications Engineer will be responsible for designing, building and implementing Server Side applications, as well as building and deploying APIs for Server Side and client-side applications to consume.
This will be a key role with design and hands-on development activity requiring you to work closely with the Front End developers building the product, business teams who will be consuming the data, our energy trading team and our external vendors supplying core billing and metering systems so a strong communication and problem solving skill set is required.
My client will focus on delivering business value by practising Agile development principles - frequent delivery, rapid feedback from customers and analytics, valuing failures for learning opportunities they bring, transparency in decision-making and minimal tolerance for politics.
This is a ground floor opportunity to design and build a brand new application and technology stack.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this person will be a key member of the team.
Skill Requirements
5+ years' experience in relevant increasingly senior roles
Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science/Data Analytics/Engineering/Statistics) preferred
Deep knowledge of Javascript and/or Java on the Server Side. Python also valued.
Previous experience building and improving data platforms using AWS technologies using SQL and NoSQL technologies.
Experience with Postgres, DynamoDB and Redshift particularly valued if available.
Experience working with databases and with DBAs, SQL Developers and data engineers in application development.
Experience building for Front End and Server Side use, as well as consuming APIs for server functions and integrations.
Proven experience developing and operating cloud native applications at scale
Strong leadership/communications skills.
Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum//Kanban/Test Driven Development).
Experience developing applications in complex regulatory environment particularly valued (eg financial services, telecom)
