One of our financial technology clients is looking for a Full Stack Web Developer
Purpose of the role
We are now recruiting for a highly motivated and professional Java web developer to sit within the development team where you will be responsible for the ongoing development, support and maintenance of our market-leading stochastic modelling solutions to the financial services industry.
Reporting to the Development Manager, this is an interesting role which will require a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
As part of the development team you will be responsible for the technical design, development, maintenance and implementation of the company's web applications, both Front End using HTML, CSS and Javascript, and Back End using Java and SQL.
You will be working hand in hand with Web designers, Business Analysts and Actuarial testers and the infrastructure team to develop and deploy products.
You will be expected to work with the team to deliver high quality, robust solutions for the company, reporting to the development manager on a daily basis.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Good Java EE development experience, preferably gained on enterprise business systems.
- Good working knowledge of Java EE7/8 editions.
- Good knowledge and experience of working with Maven, SQL, XML, HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Good experience in supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by others.
- An ability to quickly and effectively understand and translate product and business requirements into technical solutions whilst adhering to the agreed specification.
- Knowledge and experience of software development processes and methodologies.
- Experience using and maintaining version control and bug tracking systems.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge and experience using the following: Eclipse, Tomcat, MySQL, Apache, Jenkins and Ubuntu/Debian/Unix.
- Knowledge of Javascript frameworks such as Angular, Knockout, Polymer, ReactJS
- Experience in project-based and team-focused working practises
- An appreciation of financial services, pensions and investments.
- An understanding of Agile development methodologies, Scrum master certification or similar a distinct advantage.
Qualifications
A degree at 2:1 or better in a relevant field, such as Software Engineering, Computer science, or similar. Degrees in a Maths related subject would be considered for a candidate with the right experience.
