A global Renewable Energy client is looking for a Consultant to work as an Onshore Substation Quantity Surveyor to monitor and report progress of contracts. The Onshore Substation Quantity Surveyor will be required to work with the installation PM, the onshore cable supply manager and the contracts managers (supply and installation). This will be a Monday to Friday freelance contract to start September 2016 up until approx.31st August 2018.Responsibilities:
- Value management cost control
- Advise on procurement strategy
- Identify, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
- Valuing completed work arranging payments
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
- Preparing tender and contract documents, which will include bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
- Allocating work to subcontractors
- Providing advice on contractual claims
- Undertake feasibility studies
- Perform risk management
- A solid track record from a similar project (Electrical Substations), practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking
- Must be able to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way
- Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages
- In depth knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, material, business and legal matters
- The Consultants will be required to bring his/her own PC with MS Office 2007 software or newer and mobile telephone.
