MPS Delivery Manager (Mobile Payment Solutions)

Overview:

Working within the Mobile Payment Solutions (MPS) Delivery Team the Country Delivery Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of MPS products and services within an assigned Market/s.

The Country Delivery Manager will work directly with the Market and other key stakeholders and is responsible for requirements elicitation, preparation and execution of the Market Delivery Roadmap and delivery of work requests and projects within the roadmap.

The Country Delivery Manager will act as the project executive with overall responsibility for project delivery. As project executive the Country Delivery Manager will work closely with the internal and the Service Integrators' project managers as well as both internal and external suppliers to ensure project delivery.

The Country Delivery Manager will assist the Project Management Office with overall programme demand and capacity management and planning, and identification of Market constraints, dependencies and priorities.

Responsibilities:

1. Impact on the business

  • Work with the Market and other key stakeholders to identify and capture requirements (functional, non-functional and operational).
  • Engage with the MPS Centre of Excellence team to facilitate translation of business requirements into functional and technical requirements.
  • Work effectively with MPS systems analysts to ensure that requirements are understood, documented and signed off by all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that any relevant regulatory, fraud, risk and security requirements are understood, captured and communicated within MPesa Eng, Commercial and Strategy and Markets and approvals obtained for their resolution.
  • Define and agree appropriate acceptance criteria for all programme outputs and project deliverables.
  • Work with the Market and suppliers to obtain estimates, quotations and plans for project delivery.
  • Undertake and Support the generation and approval of Market work requests and Offers.
  • Build and maintain a Market Prioritisation, Market Delivery Roadmap and programme delivery plans for assigned Market(s) and secure approval with appropriate technical and commercial governance authority.
  • Oversee the development of the business case, project mandate and project brief where required for the initiation of new projects.
  • Maintain a Market programme delivery plan, risk and issue log.
  • Manage project delivery budget and expenditure in conjunction with the Project Management Office.
  • Represent, support and guide the Market throughout the project gated delivery process.
  • Provide on-site support and guidance in Market to collate and understand local priorities and ensure delivery of their agreed local deliverables and dependencies.
  • Identify local financial risks and interactions amending and aligning the Market delivery roadmap and programme plan accordingly.
  • Escalation of MPS programme issues to senior local stakeholders where necessary and management of their required resolution.

2. Customers, supplier and third parties

  • Maintains close contact with Markets and the Commercial and Strategy team, understanding their needs to ensure effective and timely delivery of the Market Roadmap.
  • Continuously builds strong relations with both internal and external suppliers, senior management and Markets assuring engagement and commitment by all parties.
  • Strengthen Market communication (feedback loop, scheduled communications/reporting, issue escalation) with local Eng and Ops teams to identify local Market changes and enable Market planning (Market Roadmap alignment with MPS Delivery Roadmap).
  • Establish clear communication channels with stakeholders to support follow up on decisions, expected deliverables and actions for respective programmes.

3. Leadership and teamwork

  • Works effectively and efficiently within a high-performance team of Delivery Managers consisting of internal employees and contractors.
  • Participate and positively contribute to regular team meetings.
  • Acts as a role model and champion of the MPS organisation by consistently demonstrating high quality examples of performance, deliverables and behaviours aligned with the Vodafone Way.
  • Promotes a service mentality' and partnership approach' to develop strong relationships within function as well as towards other MPS teams, suppliers and Markets.
  • Is open to the ideas and point of view of others irrespective of cultural background or level in Vodafone.

5. Knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise and knowledge of money transfer services and other mobile payment applications as an added value service to help Markets develop high quality Market leading propositions.
  • Provide broad industry knowledge and understanding of mobile telecommunications, mobile payments or other similar financial systems.
  • Experienced with the application of project management in a waterfall deployment and familiar with agile development environment.
  • Experience in working within and project managing cross-functional international project teams.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of technical projects in OpCos, Partner Markets and Affiliates.
  • Excellent and professional project management skills.
  • Formal certification in programme/project management according to the PMI standard (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Solid experience in an international context serving multiple parties/customers.
  • Excellent communication and decision making skills - ability to balance conflicting interests.

6. Communication

  • MPS Delivery Champion within assigned Market.
  • Maintain and publish stakeholder mapping and detailed understanding of the local Markets technical, operational and business decision makers.
  • Manage the interfaces and communication with key stakeholders across MPS, Vodafone Group, the Market, and internal and external suppliers.
  • Ensure that MPS Market project delivery objectives align with business needs and current MPesa Engineering Priorities.
  • Facilitate appropriate escalation of issues to senior management and oversee the resolution of issues in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Mobile Payment Experience - 2 years
  • Or Financial Services Experience - 2 years
  • Project Management Experience - minimum 5 years
  • Project Management Qualification - PRINCE 2, APMP or equivalent
  • International Project Management experience with off shore development and Markets - 2years
  • Experience of managing transactional or technical financial integration projects
  • Experience of Communication and relationship maintenance at executive level - 2 years
  • Demonstrable numerical, analytical and verbal skills, in particular well-developed written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Ability to work in a reactive and proactive environment

Desirable

  • Service Delivery Qualification - ITIL
  • AML Qualification - ICA Certificate in Anti Money Laundering Awareness
  • Programme Management Qualification - MSP
  • Experience of business transformation and process implementation is highly desirable
