Solutions Designer - Oxford - EUC, Desktop, Applications

Square One are looking for a EUC Solutions Designer to come on board for a 3 month contract based in Oxford.

Required Experience

Significant IT experience with at least strong engineering of EUC technologies.

Excellent technical skills and experience gained from working within complex Desktop, Mobile and Application infrastructure projects. You must be able to demonstrate skills designing and delivering large scale migrations together with the methodologies and techniques needed to manage a geographically disparate user base.

Demonstrable experience in translating high level technical architectures and service design requirements into a clear and coherent low-level designs.

Significant experience of infrastructure and application architectures, particularly with respect to VDI, MDM, automation techniques and managing infrastructure as code' leading to consistent delivery and to high levels of quality.

Significant experience in the automation of manual tasks and seeking out efficiencies by shifting left' where possible, for example the automation of Desktop provisioning and Application deployment, including end user self-service.

Experience of advanced problem management and troubleshooting techniques, performance and capacity reporting using various tools.

Good understanding of security best practices, particularly in relation to software patching, data leakage prevention and encryption.

Good understanding of the total cost ownership and life cycle management of EUC assets.

Extensive and demonstrable experience of Incident and Problem Management, with an understanding of other ITIL processes, applied across multi-platform technologies.

Experience of working in a geographically dispersed, international organization.

Being an innovative and positive team player with excellent communication and service skills, confident in communicating technical issues and managing the demands of non IT staff and senior stakeholders.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on given tasks to agreed deadlines, as well as deputising for the Desktop Engineering Tech Lead when required.

An eye for detail and ability to document designs, proposals, business cases and presentations tailored appropriately for different audiences.

Technical Skills

Expert knowledge of delivering a global desktop, including management of corporate images and adherence to security standards.

Expert knowledge of delivering applications using various deployment methods, including Microsoft System Center and virtualisation tools such as App-V. This includes application life cycle management from initial assessment through to retirement.

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policies as they relate to end user devices and applications.

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and Hyper-V to support regional office locations, including on-premise and cloud based file serving.

Advanced knowledge of cloud DaaS platforms and solutions, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.

Advanced knowledge of integrating large heterogeneous environments that include Windows and OS X file systems, desktops, laptops and mobile devices.

Advanced knowledge of tracking assets and deploying software using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Casper.

Advanced knowledge of Windows network protocols including DNS, DHCP, WINS, LDAP and Kerberos.

Advanced knowledge of PowerShell to automate complex and repetitive operations for L1 and L2 support teams.

Advanced knowledge of security technologies and strategies, including the use of web and email content filtering, public key infrastructure, drive encryption, patch management and AV best practices.

Advanced knowledge of MDM technologies and how these are used to manage corporate devices and BYOD.

Good knowledge of BYOD strategies and deployment approaches that ensure corporate data remains secure and devices are compliant with company standards.

Good knowledge of implementing and supporting Office 365 and collaboration tools in a global organisation.

Good knowledge of monitoring tools such as System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).

This is a 3 month contract based in Oxford paying market rates.
