Barrel is an interactive agency based in New York City that partners with clients to deliver best-in-class design and technology solutions. We work primarily with healthy lifestyle brands to create impactful digital experiences to help our clients grow their businesses.
We are seeking a freelance Drupal web developer to work on a per-project basis. We will brief you on the project requirements and negotiate on a project fee. You will become a part of a project team and collaborate closely throughout the development, QA, and post-launch phases of the project.
This is a remote position but you are also welcome to work out of our office. We communicate through various video, chat, and project management tools and you must be available through these channels throughout the day.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with an agency
- Working knowledge of git version control system
- Working knowledge of node-based gulp workflows
- Intimate knowledge of Drupal theming
- Ability to expertly and professionally continue development of an existing project
- Familiar with interpreting and viewing Sketch files and Invisionapp
- Familiar with JIRA issue-tracking software
- Willingness to work with existing processes for git (branching and merge requests), JIRA (bug fixes, undocumented or missing specs), and QA (manual testing)
- Familiar with remote communication tools such as Basecamp, Google Docs, Screenhero, Slack and/or HipChat
- Responds in a timely manner (1-3 hours) to requests via communication channels
- Advanced front-end development experience, having taken complex designs and making cross-browser compatible, mobile-friendly websites
- An understanding of current SEO best practices
- A working knowledge of performance optimization strategies and their importance (such as caching, asset minification, CDNs, etc.)
- A good sense of design and an eye for the details
- Excellent written and verbal professional communication skills
- A high level of self-management and organizational skills
