Description
The Platform and Service Development group is a multi-skilled technical team of engineers/developers with a strong focus on creative technical solutions to the challenges of efficiently managing large scale Business Critical IT infrastructure.
We are currently looking for a strong technical professional with a can-do attitude to join a project responsible for delivering our next generation of cloud infrastructure services. The successful candidate will have a broad range of knowledge and experience with an emphasis on virtualization technology, specifically VMWare. Working within a team of subject matter experts, you will help to build, test and document a highly automated VMWare-based infrastructure and cloud management platform.
You will have a strong team of techies around you to support you but will be expected to be a self-starter who can research and understand new technologies quickly and design and propose solutions for peer review. Good team-working and flexibility is a must and specific experience in a multi-disciplined agile-type environment is a plus.
Responsibilities include:
- Building and configuring components of the cloud management platform, from elements of the vRealize suite to monitoring and configuration management toolsets.
- Documenting builds, troubleshooting guidelines and life cycle management processes for the management platform and infrastructure.
- Assisting with the development of layered-on services such as anti-malware and backup services.
- Assisting with testing of the end-to-end operational processes, from client network and server deploys through to DR failovers.
Person:
- Knowledge and experience of NSX production deployments overlaying a L3 leaf-spine fabric (cross-vcentre NSX experience preferred)
- Knowledge and experience of vRealize suite, including vRealise Operations, vRealize Log Insight and vRealize Automation
- Experience with iSCSI storage protocols
- Senior support or engineering level experience (ideally with experience of design, deploy and operations of IT infrastructure)
- Familiarity with CIS hardening standards and implementation of security hardening an advantage
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Experience in performance and functional testing of infrastructure
- Able to work effectively in a team and a cross multi-functional teams
- Experience of any of the following tools/technologies an advantage:
- Solidfire storage arrays
- iSCSI storage fabric
- Trend Deep Security (particularly hypervisor and NSX)
- Ansible/Ansible Tower
- Powershell/Powershell DSC
- Application Packaging (MSI Packager/Packer or similar)
- vRealize Automation/vRealize Orchestration
- GitHub
- ELK
