Description

We are seeking Senior Business Analyst role in Canberra

Role

Provide a lead role and mentoring for a team of business analysts.

  • Identify, analyse and elucidate business requirements in conjunction with business representatives;
  • Run workshops with business and technical stakeholders
  • Support Business Process Re-engineering and process optimisation activities.
  • Evolve innovative and pragmatic solutions for business problems.
  • Identify areas of business that may be assisted by automation, and work with ICT personnel to outline options.
  • Engage and manage stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Specify business requirements via use cases, functional requirement specifications, or other appropriate means.
  • Develop business rules into rule structures suitable for consumption by a rules engine or decision-support engine
  • Work in multidiscipline teams in an agile development environment.
  • Liaise with Business and Technical staff to ensure that solutions are implemented to achieve documented benefits.
  • Support the Project Manager by defining and preparing business product descriptions.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of issues and other Project Management products.
  • Prepare requirement statements for tendering processes that meet stringent quality criteria.
  • Plan, monitor and report on allocated tasks.
  • Other project tasks as directed

Selection criteria

Mandatory:

  • Proven experience in delivering successful strategic outcomes for government agencies. At least 6 years experience as a senior business analyst with substantial IT Projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships with senior staff members, peers and other contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a team of business analysts.
  • High level written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of enterprise architecture, solution design and Datamodelling.
  • Proven experience in the analysis and documentation of business rules using industry best practices.
    • Demonstrate your business analysis skills, in particular provide evidence of your experience regarding:

a) significant business process modelling and re- engineering exercises;

b) business requirements elicitation and reporting skills;

c) translating requirements between the language of business to the language of ICT personnel;

d) delivery of successful business solutions from business requirements.

e) maintain backlog requirements and be responsive to analysis needs in an Agile delivery environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the development of IT systems that utilise a business rules engine, including the development of detailed executable rules from business rules.
  • Experience with the implementation of Case Management systems.
  • Experience in the Intellectual Property Domain.
  • Procurement experience working with business and IT areas to establish clear requirements, business impact assessment and future state structures, process models, role definitions and procedures in support of alternative solution sourcing delivery models such as outsourcing or co-sourcing.
