Description
Main Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, testing and implementing quality Oracle database solutions within defined time scales.
- Working with project teams and business users to analyse business and technical requirements.
- Supporting and improving the Oracle database capability to ensure 24x7 availability.
- Managing Oracle database security in accordance with industry best practice.
- Responsible for Oracle database performance tuning.
- Managing Back-up and Disaster Recovery of the Oracle database estate.
- Identifying, prioritising and resolving Oracle database incidents and problems.
- Developing and implementing Oracle database procedures and documentation to maximise the effectiveness and quality of working practices within the Infrastructure database team.
- Liaising with others in the business as required understanding stakeholder needs; guiding, persuading and influencing others through developed skills of communication and diplomacy.
- Providing technical mentoring and coaching to less experienced team members.
- Developing a general understanding in the areas of database and system design.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
- IT or Engineering degree or equivalent qualification complemented by 5-6 years relevant experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving ability.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to lead Oracle Database bodies of work.
- Oracle Database Administration (11g/12c)
- Oracle Linux/Red Hat Linux Systems Administration.
- Implementation of Oracle database patches and upgrades.
- Experience of managing and administrating 24x7 database Servers
- Database cloning/refreshes.
- Experience of Database Backup and Recovery procedures (RMAN), familiarity with Commvault preferential.
- Oracle RAC (11g/12c) installation and support.
- Oracle ASM and ACFS.
- Oracle Enterprise Management (11g/12c) implementation and support.
- Oracle VM implementation, administration and support.
- Oracle Data Guard configuration and administration.
Desirable
- Practical understanding of Oracle Service Bus technology.
- Prior experience of Oracle GoldenGate.
- PLSQL programming experience
