Description

Our pioneering and award winning Telecoms organisation are looking for a highly skilled Circuit switch engineer. To support and develop our clients Core Mobile & Fixed Network infrastructure and provide technical support and assistance to all sections of the business responsible for providing and maintaining public mobile voice and data, together with fixed voice services, core network team, Network Operations Centre, Sales & Mobile Product team and Global Solutions team, our clients customers, equipment vendors and Interconnect partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake work at an intermediate technical level on the Mobile & Fixed network infrastructure
    • Responsible for responding to principally Mobile & Fixed core infrastructure service issues; where necessary co-ordinating with internal personnel or 3rd party suppliers to resolve.
    • Pro-actively monitor the performance of the associated platforms and optimise performance to ensure the highest possible levels of network availability and customer product performance.
    • Demonstrate a sound level of technical competency with minimal levels of support required to undertake tasks on the Core Mobile & Fixed Network
    • Demonstrate initiative and commitment in the rapid resolution of technical issues resulting in minimal customer/platform down time.
    • Ensure business and departmental Key Performance Indicators and personal objectives are achieved
    • Provide 3rd level support for customer service, NOC and associated technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex customer problems and issues, in accordance with service level agreements.
    • Assume technical lead position when dealing with issues that fall within their specific area of expertise.
    • Maintain and complete change requests, evaluating and undertaking work that is classified as high risk and undertake high risk changes under the guidance and supervision of senior or higher technical specialists
    • Assist in the evolution of network platforms in accordance with strategic plans
    • Update network and procedural documentation, conforming to procedural best practice guidelines relevant to their area of expertise
    • Provide technical assistance to Senior Engineers, Sales and Product Development teams for the development of new services and solutions, together with the associated support processes.
    • Interpret complex technical information communicate to both non technical and technical personnel by both written and verbal means
    • Assist with the development of colleagues from all areas of the business who have responsibility for customer service in relation to the support and development Mobile & Fixed core network products and services.
    • Manage a diverse work load in accordance with the changing needs and demands of the business
    • To ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is maintained in all business operations
    • To maintain and improve the Quality & Environmental management Systems to current standards, ensuring that a culture based on continuous improvement prevails within the team
    • Working out of hours, when the impact on customer services prevents day time work.
    • To actively support at all times, Company Policy and best practice in the area of health & safety

Skills that you must have:

  • A networking routing accreditation such as CCNA. Minimum of 5-7 years experience working in core mobile/fixed network environment in an operator or equipment vendor roles
  • Excellent knowledge of Circuit switched core networks
  • Knowledge of IP data communications including WAN/LAN architectures
  • An industry recognised qualification in a relevant field eg Comp TIA, IET
  • Excellent knowledge of mobile Packet Core Networks
  • Good knowledge of IMS core infrastructure including SBC & ENUM platforms
  • Working technical knowledge of the principal mobile & fixed network protocols including MAP, GTP, AAA, Diameter, SIP, ENUM and SS7
  • Sound analytical and troubleshooting skills - competent in the use of network troubleshooting tools eg Wireshark Network Analysers,

  • A subsistence allowance will also be provided of £1000 pm
