Description

Roc Search's client based in Hampshire is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design engineer to generate and deliver mechanical design solutions serving the NPI function.

Responsibilities

To develop all aspects of mechanical design solutions for new products to corporate and International standards.
*Develop mechanical requirement and architecture documentation maintaining traceability through to design implementation ensuring stakeholder requirements are met.
*Responsible for the peer review of requirements documentation.
*Responsible for the sign-off of design and verification documentation.
*Produce detailed design documentation to support the validation of design solutions.
*Analyse requirements using the DFMEA process to define test specifications.
*Examination of designs using component level DFMEA process.
*Produce technical documentation for production, installation and service.
*Assess the safety of product designs using Product Safety Hazard Analysis process.
*Coach and mentor mechanical engineers in the fulfilment of their role.
*Working closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure that product performance, reliability and cost expectations are met
*Communicating the results and status of projects clearly and effectively
*Assessing and handling supplier relationships for technical and commercial negotiations

Qualifications:
Holds an HNC/Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline relevant to mechanical engineering.
Knowledge:
*Expert knowledge of techniques for analysing mechanical systems, including structural failure, fatigue, vibration, and acoustics
Thorough knowledge of FEA analysis techniques and tools (Preferably Creo Simulate)
*Strong knowledge of techniques for manufacturing steel parts and the common issues associated with these.
*Thorough understanding of GD&T tolerancing.
*Understanding of the V-model development process.
*Understanding of Systems Engineering principles.

Experience:
*Significant experience in the design and development of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems, preferably which include safety critical elements, machinery design, sheetmetal and fabrication, motor and gearing applications, mechanisms, material selection and machine reliability.
*Experience in the creation and application of test specifications to demonstrate success to requirements.
*Experience producing and checking technical drawings to BS8888 quality standards.
*Experience leading designs with an emphasis on assembly and DFM best practise.
*Experience working within a project structure to time critical deadlines.
*Experience using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to component level.
*Experience working within a project structure to time critical deadlines.
