System Engineer - Brussels (French or Dutch Speaker)

1-year contract

Daily rate: €400

E2E responsible for the operational environment of middlewares running on Solaris/Linux platform:

  • Build and maintain Middleware infrastructure: installation and migration to new versions, following ITIL methodology
  • Acceptation and implementation of upgrades, changes and fixes, following ITIL methodology
  • Resolve incidents and search solutions for problems as 2nd/3rd level support according agreed service levels
  • Solve complex operational problems
  • Build and improve Middleware automation (deployment, monitoring, reporting)
  • Keep documentation up-to-date or create new documentation if not available, share knowledge
  • Support project and development teams for the middlewares under your support
  • Participate in proof of concepts and projects with Architecture and Security for the middlewares under your support
  • Follow-up of administration
  • Works outside normal business hours for planned changes & interventions
  • Participates in an on duty support team 24h/24h 7d/7d (long term) - one time every 4-6 weeks

As an experienced senior, you will coach system engineers.

You are contact person for:

  • ICT project managers & application leads for software development
  • Release- & Change managers
  • ICT release co-ordinators for implementations
  • Test co-ordinators during User Acceptance Phases
  • 2nd line support in the Service Desk (>= Duty, +/- 1week/month, intervention weekend and evenings)
  • External suppliers

-Must have's (in-depth knowledge of at least 2 of the following domains):

  • IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, Sterling Filegateway, Sterling Secure Proxy and Sterling External Authentication Server
  • Webservice Gateway (preferably Axway API Server)
  • Messaging Middleware (preferably IBM WebSphere MQ)
  • Java Application Servers and webservers (preferably JBoss/Apache)
  • Job Scheduler (preferably UC4/Automic)
  • Single Authentication Broker (Trustbuilder)
  • Tivoli Identity Management
  • (Middleware) Infrastructure automation via Scripting/development (Python, bash, Java.)

-Good knowledge of:

  • Unix (Linux and/or Solaris)
  • Scripting: Shell, Awk, Perl, C
  • Performance tuning
  • Monitoring (Nimsoft/dynatrace)
  • Programming languages: understand Java code and assist developers in solving problems related to Middleware use
  • Network/architecture knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP, Proxy)
  • Security knowledge
