Act as Migration Solution Architect in clients project. The overall project mandate is to migrate the services in the existing datacenter to the new datacenter.
As solution architect, your main responsibility will be the applications migration strategy, detailed design of network to-be solution for all applications in the scope, and optionally supervise the execution of the migration as part of the migration team. The main objective of the exercise is to migrate all solutions out of the datacenter, into another data center, and onto the provided network functions. Your focus will be to bridge the gap between the datacenter reference architecture and the existing application behavior; to make sure that the right solution is chosen to balance the need to facilitate the further application development towards the target picture (aka application redundancy); and equally important - to secure the project timeline.
The scope of work consists of two main parts, which can be changed and adjusted upon project priorities:
1. Take part in the early planning phase of the project, with an experienced view on how to plan for such a migration. You are expected to contribute to the technical aspects as well as the organizational aspects; the outline of project phases; resource requirement and activity flow; methodology of the application dependency discovery and the test approaches.
2. Develop an application migration strategy document to be part of the overall datacenter migration strategy. This document gives:
a. A framework/template on collecting the information around the application requirement
b. Approaches for application dependency discovery by traffic analysis
c. Network section of the project overall migration approach.
d. Define the categories of the applications according to their high level network migration path, together with requirement for the application preparation. This section will be aligned with existing principles and migration dials/knobs.
This framework shall enable The Clients application responsibles to deliver the detailed migration design for each application and its related systems, particularly with emphasis on the change from single DC network to active/active DC network.
