Description
UX Design Lead required by Whitehall Resources for a 3 month initial contract based in Hampshire.
Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for ensuring that the end product achieves its core objectives whilst providing its users with the most effective, efficient and enjoyable experience as possible. The UX lead will lead a team of two other designers while also getting their hands dirty coaching and supporting other teams implementing new digital products and services.
Key responsibilities include:
* Ownership and enhancement of the Web style guide (UI elements and design guidelines)
* Approaching business problems using design thinking processes and user centred design
* Framing problems and solutions from a user's perspective
* Designing digital products and solutions that meet business requirements and user needs within the technical constraints of the project
* Leading and providing QA on the work of other designers in the team
* Executing interaction design and visual design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
* User journey mapping
* Coaching designers and non-designers on design thinking process
* Collaborating on user experience planning with project managers and product owners
* Researching user experience and technology trends & leading practice.
Person Specification:
The job holder should have the following skills:
* Ability to quickly understand an existing web project and establish themselves as a UX decision maker
* Good understanding of user centred design and design thinking
* Service design experience beneficial
* Advanced wireframe or prototyping tools such as Axure, Sketch, Fireworks, Photoshop
* Attention to detail
* Experience with user interface design patterns
* Experience designing for accessibility, local government experience beneficial
* Experience writing web copy and understanding copywriting guidelines
* Strong conceptualisation ability, strong visual communication ability
* In browser HTML & CSS design beneficial.
