*Maker Space Manager - Digital Fabrication - 4 Month Contract - Edinburgh*
Our client based in Edinburgh has an exciting new opportunity for a Maker Space Manager to work within a rapid prototyping facility and maker space. You will be providing a high technology prototyping service to the shared maker space and look to develop it into a more advanced facility. Assisting with the obtaining of cutting edge technology, you will then manage the operation of the FabLab, with enthusiasm and expertise of the equipment an absolute must.
Essential skills:
- Educated to Degree level, ideally in Engineering
- Knowledge of electronics
- Experience of working with CAD and CAM
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping equipment (3D printers, Laser cutters, CNC Routers.)
- Sound understanding of Maker Space environment and market place
- Experience in risk assessment
Desirable skills:
- Excellent technical knowledge of rapid prototyping equipment (3D printers, Laser cutters, CNC Routers.)
- Technical knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD drawing packages, preferably open source.
- Experience in product design
This is a part time position, covering two days a week, 18 hours in total.
