Description

One of the major UK construction and infrastructure companies is looking to appoint a Project Planning Engineer to join their team in on site at TMF Capenhurst.

This is a temporary position for approximately 4 months.

Role purpose:

Under supervision of the Project Controls Manager or Project Director, to be responsible for implementing the requirements of the approved construction schedule as per contract schedule agreement, ensuring compliance with the business management system.

Key responsibilities for this role are:

Responsible for updating approved construction schedule in line with the project requirements, which includes:

  • Ensuring that the programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
  • Identifying planning scope, major constraints and contract requirements
  • Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme
  • The overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Schedule activities
  • The issue and communication of the Contract Schedule to the Project Controls Manager/Project Director for onward issue to Client and Project Team
  • Production of weekly/monthly progress reports that meet the projects requirements
  • Liaise with Estimating and Planning to ensure the correct norms are applied to installation activities for productivity measurement
  • Support the change control procedure with support from Engineering and Doc Control for changes to the baseline information within the approved schedule
  • Interface with M&P and E&I Installation Managers to obtain progress on a daily basis and attend weekly site coordination meetings
  • Interface with Procurement to track delivery of materials to site required to meet project milestones
  • Interface with QA Engineering Leads to track system completions for handover as per contract milestones
  • Interface with Safety to provide confirmation of allocated hours to the project
  • Liaise with the Construction team to ensure accurate reporting of hours against activity ID's to monitor KPI's, SPI, CPI and EAC
  • Liaise with the Commercial team to ensure progress reporting is consistent and accurate for purposes of monthly application and EAC development

The ideal candidate will have following skills and experience:

  • Operational experience (ie site engineer/site agent) together with previous significant experience of planning services in small to medium sized projects within the construction and engineering industry
  • Expert in using P6 Planning software
  • Proficiency in the use of planning techniques and the required planning toolsets
  • Knowledge of ME&I Systems preferable
  • An understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.
  • An understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.
  • An understanding of risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning programming.
  • An understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, delay or change entitlement
  • An understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.

  • An understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.

  • Understanding of Project Controls/Progress Reporting and Earned Value Management
  • Strong communicator
  • Excellent team working skills, and able to build relationships at all levels
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight timescales
