Description
We are seeking a functional GIS specialist that has development knowledge from a systems perspective ( not a developer, minimal development experience would be a plus, however developers will not be considered) for a federal mandated project which involves the collection of road data across the state of GA. This role is a functional role only, not technical, but you need a technical background to a degree to coordinate, promote and sustain a state wide program.
You will coordinate, promote and sustain the program initiatives with different counties and organizations to map roads and road lines etc., to follow the program guidelines in a certain way within their GIS mapping software in order for the data to be entered, audited, and pass QA, to be integrated with State systems data within the program guidelines.
Minimum Required Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor Degree in GIS, Geography, Information Systems or a closely related field.
- We are requiring strong business side experience, with prior experience dealing with external clients
- Ability to coordinate and manage a programs directives for continuity and sustainability
- GIS: Prior experience that would demonstrate a firm understanding of relational databases and experience with their design, such as Business Analyst of GIS systems to understand data concepts, and how GIS data integrates, or other experience that would demonstrate this kind of knowledge. (Developers will not be considered; we will consider some past development experience only)
- Minimum of 4 years' experience with geospatial projects in the coordination or sustainability efforts/management of
- Thorough knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS suite of products version 10.x
- Knowledge of Linear Referencing Systems and Dynamic Segmentation
- Experience making presentations and negotiating with C level (must be comfortable making a presentation once in a while to 25 people at one time)
- Strong Project Management experience
- Program Development experience
- Ability to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience
- Excellent verbal and written Communication Skills
- Self-motivated with demonstrated work experience in delivering results
