Description

Standardized Summary of Responsibilities:

Mapping & Records

  • Demonstrate and direct a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining specialized electrical schematic drawings such as Transmission, Network, and UCD system circuits using AutoCAD. Reconcile connectivity and attributes with GIS, other records systems and actual installations.
  • Gather information for installations by performing a field investigation which identifies measurements, terrain, assesses conditions, buildings, equipment clearances and obstacles.
  • Assist in developing and manipulating GIS queries of data for investigations, special projects and statistical analysis.
  • Assist operations services personnel to resolve issues with GIS, AutoCAD, and GIS View systems.
  • Receive, process and file all incoming records.
  • Participate in Safety Fair, safety meetings and training, and perform safety inspections.
  • Assist with the resolution of GMS configuration issues.
  • Perform GIS design work (ie, post, promote, correct completed designs, verify attributes, maps and promote joint use jobs, and update streetlight and transformer records.)
  • Review work request packages and plan the work, update maps, prints and GIS design.
  • Post completed work requests to GIS database, and maps and records systems by interpreting construction prints, work management information, and field inspections.
  • Use automated processes to digitize new GIS features, such as transmission line corridors.
  • Import sub-division maps into GIS Design using Auto Desk, Assist with performing mapping fixes, meter removals, ACT 129, joint use, Mapframe Inventory, and OH/UG Circuit Inspection follow-up work.
  • Work closely with AEC Points, Citrix Map Manager, Secondary Connectivity, and Circuit Inspections.
  • Review work requests for accuracy and perform visual cleanup of GIS map as required.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various off-site locations as well as office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested.
  • Attend all required regulatory training.

Recommended Minimum Education and Work Experience:

  • Education Related Work Experience*
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • + 0-1 years of related work experience
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • + 2-3 years of related work experience
  • High School Diploma (or GED) + 4+ years of related work experience
  • .Note: Related work experience is knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.
  • Gain knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Gain an understanding of the Company's Accident Prevention Handbook and practical application in the workplace.
  • Interpret work requests, engineering drawings, schematics, equipment instruction manuals and procedures to aid in the development of accurate work plans.

Gain knowledge of:

  • The purpose, function, and operating characteristics of equipment, and residential, commercial, and utility electrical distribution and control systems
  • Construction methods, maintenance practices, service practices, standards and procedures
  • Procedures and processes for the acquisition of materials, equipment and tools
  • Gain an understanding and knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements as appropriate.
  • Develop, collect, organize, and analyze information from a variety of sources to develop reports and provide information on backlog and productivity.
  • Professionalism to work with engineer and management personnel, as well as interface and work cooperatively with customers, contractors and the general public, in a courteous manner that demonstrates rules of engagement.

  • Possess solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Gain experience with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, geographical information system (GIS), customer request work scheduling (CREWS), power outage reporting system (PowerOn), computer aided drafting (CAD/AutoCAD) and Energy Delivery Outage Application is preferred. Experience with database query tools (Hyperion/BRIO, Business Explorer Analyzer (BEX), Cognos); experience using Visual Basic is a plus.
  • Must have a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required and possess a valid driver's license.
