Overview:

Global Markets combines the sales, trading and structuring of a wide range of financial markets products.

This incorporates Debt Trading, including Foreign Exchange (FX), Rates, Credit, Structured Finance and Emerging Markets; Equities and equity-linked products; Exchange-traded and over-the-counter derivatives and Money Market and securitised instruments.

Coverage of institutional clients is provided by the Institutional Client Group, while Research provides analysis of markets, products and trading strategies for clients.

In order to meet regulatory obligations regional control functions have been built out in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia- Pacific (APAC) and the Americas. EMEA Supervision is part of the Divisional Control Office and will coordinate activities under the direction of this Group to implement global consistency and best practice.

As a Communications Surveillance Analyst you'll be working within The Global Markets EMEA Supervision function which forms part of the 1st Line of Defence (LoD) Front Office supervision and control framework to aide design of controls on behalf of the Front Office, provide monthly Management Information Systems (MIS) to product line and regional management teams. The team also acts as a point of contact for internal/external audits and regulatory assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with the Front Office to embed a culture of conduct and control
  • Securing Front Office buy-in for new controls and the principles of good supervision
  • Designing, planning and implementing training to Front Office staff on new controls
  • Participating in the design and implementation of new controls
  • Ensuring timeliness and completeness of Front Office control evidence submission
  • Managing the escalation process for late and incomplete control evidence to product and regional management
  • Collating control evidence as required for ad-hoc internal and external audits
  • Coordinating with APAC and the United States (US) supervision functions to implement new infrastructure, framework and processes
  • Liaising with Compliance and Legal to ensure new regulatory requirements are adopted into the control framework

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A proactive, autonomous, dynamic approach with a strong sense of urgency and integrity
  • A broad understanding of Global Markets and regulatory landscape
  • Knowledge of the front to back trade life cycle and processes associated with financial institutions
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Detail oriented, structured and a methodical thinker
  • Able to develop relationships across multiple businesses and countries
  • Able to plan and organise work efficiently and deliver services promptly and reliably
  • Able to adapt and change behaviour or plans in order to achieve an objective
  • Able to take appropriate action and show good judgment in critical situations
  • An excellent team player
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Proactive with strong analytic skills and be able to identify opportunities and develop new ideas that will lead to improvements
