Oracle DBA, IBM Certified, DB2 V9, Public Sector, Department for Work and Pensions

My client a leading public sector department dealing with public welfare and annuities is seeking an Ingres DBA professional to join their team for a long term 14 month contract. The role is based in Newcastle and paying between £300 - £350 per day D.O.E. If you would like to know more about the position please see below or apply for immediate consideration.

Key Deliverables

  • Prepare and support IT Operations solutions and services, physical or virtual, according to industry and organisational best practice standards, service requirements and KPIs
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Perform all routine tasks according to process and checklists
  • Perform and/or oversee the operation and support of all database related solutions - Servers, services and storage
  • Monitor operational services and alerts and take appropriate action
  • Act as 2nd line support for database incidents, problems and changes to solutions and services within SLAs and OLAs and contribute to technical discussions and follow up activities where a high severity incident has been raised

Experience Required

Essential

  • IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator - DB2;
    In-depth experience in the administration of DB2 v9, 10 & 11 Proven experience working as a Production DBA supporting
  • Business critical databases (production, pre-production, disaster recovery as well as test environments)
  • Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
  • Enrolling users and maintaining system security
  • Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
  • Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
  • Planning for backup and recovery of database information
  • Maintaining archived data
  • Backing up and restoring databases
  • Generating various reports by querying from database as required. Proven experience of impacting, testing and applying patches and version upgrades to DB2 10 or 11databases;
  • Extensive experience in performance tuning at the database and application level
