Systems Engineer - DOORS, SYSML, UML

A Systems Engineer with Requirements, DOORS, SYSML, UML required to work on a six month contract (WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION) for our Defence client based in Telford.

This is an opportunity to work with armoured vehicles.

Overview of the Systems Engineer contract role

As a Systems Engineer, you will be gaining exposure to various platforms and a variety of different Systems Engineering techniques. This is a challenging role where you will be able to learn and put theoretical knowledge into practice and work your way up through the Systems Engineering team to manage a platform or specific project through the whole life cycle.

Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer your skills and qualifications must include the following:

  • Degree or equivalent in Systems Engineering or experience to offset.
  • Systems or broad Engineering training where integration techniques across a variety of multi-disciplinary domains (software, electronic, electrical and mechanical) were required.
  • Strong MS Office skills and experience.

Additional Information

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Delivering effective requirements management, this includes supporting the production of compliant bids and proposals, maintaining interface control documents, planning and performing compliance, acceptance and certification activities, planning and performing validation and verification activities and test and trial planning.
  • Developing Engineering concepts and designs across a range of product areas, including the construction of reasonable and impartial Engineering trade-off studies to ensure traceability to requirements.
  • Managing and developing project data such as; supportability inputs, safety, performance, configuration, change control and technical queries.
  • Supporting the development of Systems Engineering toolsets to be used across a variety of vehicle projects, ranging from capability assessment tools through to test and verification.

Key skills required for the Systems Engineer

As a Systems Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include the following:

  • Master's degree or equivalent (or working towards) or achieved CEng status.
  • Experience of working in product life cycles, from concept to disposal.
  • Experience in projects using Systems Engineering techniques.
  • Experience in modelling and software development.
  • Experience in DOORS and SysML/UML.

The role is based in Telford, Shropshire - commutable from Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Stourbridge, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Lichfield, Cannock, Stafford, Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Oswestry
