CONTRACT WORDPRESS DEVELOPER FOR RBI (FTSE100 RELX GROUP) - EXCITING, AMBITIOUS & TALENTED PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY CREATING ONLINE DATA PRODUCTS - WORDPRESS / PHP / AWS / HTML5 / JAVASCRIPT / AGILE
•Contract Developer for Reed Business Information - Major development opportunity in thriving and innovation led online brand.
•This role will sit within the Product Development department of RBI, part of the FTSE100 RELX Group.
•2.5 month contract with possible extensions
•~£400/day DOE
Overview:
The Product Development team at RBI is looking for a forward thinking WordPress Developer to join our technology team.
We have ambitious plans for growth, and a healthy revenue stream to fund it. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a talented agile team, as we scale up to build compelling online data products, with exciting technologies.
We work heavily with WordPress, Amazon Web Services and more. The successful candidate will be comfortable working unsupervised to implement new WordPress plugins and improve existing ones. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years' experience working on commercial WordPress websites and can prioritise their work in order to achieve business targets. You should be able to find solutions and WordPress best practices by analysing community contributions made on Wordpress.org. The successful candidate will need to hit the ground running, with a proven track record in software development of enterprise class web applications.
Skills & Requirements:
Essential:
•Amazon Web Services.
•PHP 5 (OOP) and MYSQL.
•WordPress (Custom theme and plugin development).
•HTML 5, CSS 3, Object Orientated JavaScript skills.
•Git/Stash.
•Linux.
•Good knowledge of cross-browser issues.
•Knowledge of at least one of the following scripting languages: BASH, Perl.
•Ability to find the root cause of a problem in a distributed LEMP stack context.
•Experience of working on customer facing web applications.
•Strong interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills.
Desirable:
•Agile development (Scrum/Lean/Kanban).
•Experience in mentoring others.
