Opportunity to join one of the largest funded transformation programmes in the UK. With projects on rail, IT and technology at the core of spending.

Reporting to the IT Change and Configuration Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end software asset life cycle, having direct oversight of the creation and implementation of associated polices, processes and tool-sets. You will work with internal and external stakeholders providing knowledge and governance to ensure compliance is maintained. You will need to uphold relationships with software vendors and manage external audits as required. Additionally the role will be responsible for asset data quality, asset management reporting, software license validation and managing inventory reuse.

Principal account-abilities

  • Lead the development of policy and processes for managing the software asset life cycle
  • Lead the load/validation of software licensing/purchasing and licence entitlement data into the SAM system
  • Accountable for the life cycle of all assets, ensuring that a consistent process is understood and adopted by all contributors for all assets
  • Produce software compliance reports at an organisational level as required, utilising discovery data and SAM tooling
  • Recommend remedial actions to the business for resolving under compliance
  • Leading on vendor software audits
  • Provide vendor licensing expertise to internal customers
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimise software licences used across the organisation
  • Lead initiatives to do things better, faster and smarter, in a more cost effective fashion
  • Provide cover for hardware asset Co-ordinator as required

Requirements

  • Proficient in the control and management of software assets. Experience in the control of hardware assets would be advantageous
  • In-depth understanding of software asset life cycles and license models
  • Ability to think logically, analyse situations and problem solve
  • Strong process management and control skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral skills
  • Working Knowledge of standards; frameworks such ITIL, ISO20001, ISO270001

Qualifications and experience

  • Software Asset Management certification
  • Proven experience within a software asset management role
  • Experience using software licensing and discovery tools such as Microsoft SCCM, SNOW
  • Understanding of license terms, contracts and their impact on compliance
  • Ability to spot, qualify and leverage new licensing opportunities
  • Expertise in MS Office, advanced Excel experience desirable
  • Experience in ServiceNow ITSM toolset desirable
  • ITILv3 Foundation desirable
