Software Assurance Engineer (SQEP) - Typhoon

A Software Assurance Engineer is required to work for a Leading Defence and Security company based in Amesbury. You will act as an Independent Technical Assessor of the software of safety critical/related aircraft systems (Typhoon) and provide advice on airworthiness issues related to those systems. This will involve the assessment of third party software and/or software documentation for adequate safety and conformance to standards.
Essential Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required
- Software engineering experience
- Software assessment experience
- Thorough knowledge of military and/or civil standards for software safety (including Def Stan 00-56, Def Stan 00-55, DO-178B)
- Working knowledge of Airworthiness Principles and Requirements (including Def Stan 00-970 and UK Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications)
- Experience of providing technical assurance in the software domain
- Experience and understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems.
- Knowledge or experience of software development on Eurofighter Typhoon.
Desirable Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required
- Understanding of safety principles and their application to software and Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) safety
- Experience in the development or assessment of safety critical software and/or CEH
- Practical experience of software/CEH development against Military and/or civil standards for software/CEH safety
- Practical experience of software/CEH assessment against Military and/or civil standards for software/CEH safety Experience as an Independent Software Assessor or Auditor
This role will require the successful candidate to hold SC clearance prior to commencing onsite.
