Ingres, Database Administrator, DBA, Administrator, Government, Public SectorWe are currently seeking a Ingres Database Administrator to join a large government client of ours on an initial 14 months contract based in Newcastle.
This role is for an Ingres Database Administrator (DBA), working in a leveraged DBA team that supports wider multi-disciplinary teams with end to end responsibility to maintain and support BPDTS's mission critical IT systems.
The post holder will be primarily responsible for the ongoing maintenance and support of a series of Ingres-based production, pre-production and disaster recovery databases, but will also be involved in design and build activities to support projects and programmes that deliver BPDTS's extensive and challenging Welfare Reform Change Programme
Essential
- Proven experience working as a Production DBA supporting:
- o Client and Server implementations
- o Ingres tables, catalogues, views, procedures, rules
- o Database Backup and Recovery including journaling
- o Data Compilation/Retrieval
- In-depth experience in the administration of Ingres versions 9 and 10
- Proven experience of impacting, testing and applying patches and version upgrades to Ingres Client and Server databases;
- Extensive experience in performance tuning at the database and application level
- Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems;
- Strong experience in the operation and support of IT Operations, infrastructure and application technologies and solutions - hardware, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and opensource packages/solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS;
- ITIL Service Operation (particularly Request Fulfilment, Incident/Problem/Change Management) and with experience of Service Transition;
- Monitoring and event management;
- Data management regulations and policies and Information Lifecycle Management frameworks and solutions
