Ruby on Rails Developer/London/6 months Contract/Up To £500 Per Day
Opportunity for a Ruby on Rails developer to work within an established government entity. The role involves working alongside an existing multi-discipline agile team to create future iterations of the organization's flagship site. The team will utilise your skills to help focus on customer needs, growing and changing the site as we test and re-test.
Responsibilities include the design, building and maintenance of reusable and reliable Ruby code; integration of user-facing elements with Server Side logic and data solutions; helping to maintain code quality, organization and automation. Python skills would be useful to help maintain the existing codebase and facilitate the move to a Python build.
Essential Skill
- Wide knowledge of Ruby on Rails and associated technologies
- Good understanding of Server Side templating languages and CSS pre-processor
- Basic understanding of Front End technologies (eg JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3)
- Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful
- Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
- Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
- Familiarity with development aiding tools
- Familiarity with continuous integration
