Sr. Project Manager
Columbia, SC
1 year+ contract with annual extensions & option to hire
Security Clearance: Candidates submitted must be able to obtain a security clearance. The only prerequisite is US citizenship, and the clearance can be obtained after an offer of employment is made.
Accountable for all activities assigned to the project team. Facilitate and monitor work efforts on a daily basis. Track project status and schedule and report to senior management. Develop project plans, risk management plans, and project documentation. Identify teamwork assignments. Communicate with all areas of the enterprise, including senior management and external parties that impact the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort. Track key project milestones and adjust project plans and/or resources to meet customer needs. Facilitate the definition of business goals and the activities required to successfully meet those goals.
Daily Responsibilities: Project Leadership tasks to include project planning, project monitoring and control, risk management. Oversight for project budget, schedule, and scope of work, ie requirements. Project communication, status, resource management in a strong Matrix environment.
Technical Background: Project Management background in a software development/maintenance environment. Mainframe and/or Client Server experience.
Systems: Claims processing, web, customer service (CSR desktops and IVR), infrastructure applications.
Working Relationships: Will interface with internal and external customers, management to obtain resources in a Matrix environment, escalations to all levels of management, and reporting status to Sr. Executives and Management.
Team Size: Can vary from 6 - 60+ depending on the size of the project.
Any Overtime: There could be overtime for critical times of a project or when it is a government mandate with a mandated implementation date.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, etc. or a total of eight years of work-related IT experience
Required Skills:
- Seven years of IT experience in leadership capacity on multiple concurrent project teams
- Five years of software development application Project Management Produce technical/non-technical documents (2 years)
- Good negotiation skills (4 years)
- Demonstrated leadership team/projects (4 years)
- MS Word, MS Excel; MS Project (2 years)
