Civil Structural Design Engineer - Nuclear

My well-known and prestigious client in the Nuclear industry is looking for a Civil Structural Design Engineer to join their team who are embarking on the most notable Plant Life Extension project currently in the UK. My major client is currently working on the design phase of the multi-million pound project, working alongside EDF, being one of the most recognised and global Nuclear/Renewable Energy client.

The Civil Structural Design Engineer is required to support the effective delivery of the detailed design works surrounding pipework supports, cable trays and cable ladders on the secondary steelwork components. The Civil Structural Design Engineer will be using all aspects of their application of Civil and Structural aspects of site delivery of heavy plant and equipment, including developing and managing lift plans. They will preferably have knowledge of seismic qualification of structures, CDM regulations as well as a broad knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes. The Civil Structural Design Engineer will be required to compile and review the Civil and Structural designs and produce detailed, quality calculations and reports for steelwork and concrete. Having a background in site surveying reports and communicating the design content to the design teams on all aspects relating to the Plant Life Extension project.

Key skills:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferable (or equivalent)
  • Nuclear experience is highly desirable
  • Previous CAD experience is essential
  • Knowledge of Civil and Structural aspects of site delivery of heavy plant and equipment
  • Knowledge and application of CDM regulations and seismic qualification of structures
  • Experience in designing pipework supports, cable trays and cable ladders on the secondary steelwork components
  • Experience in site surveying
  • Broad knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes to compile and review Civil and Structural designs and produce the relevant detailed quality calculations and reports
  • Customer focused approach
  • Experience on EDF Energy sites would be beneficial
  • Due to site work requirements, current CTC clearance would be ideal
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
