Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced GEO Physical Ground Search Engineer to work within Central Government on a contract basis. This position is based in St Albans, initially for 10 months offering up to £450 per day Ltd.

Main Duties:
Identification of missing persons.

Identification of hidden firearms.
Declare areas free of missing person and firearms so Police Officer can concentrate on other areas.

Essential Experience:

Have practical experience in applying geophysical knowledge to search/exploration situations to identify the locations of disturbed ground, organic matter and other items; (this is a highly specialised skill that requires greater expertise than using GPR to identify utility pipes).

Have expertise in the use of single and multi channel ground penetrating radar, ground conductivity and magnetometry equipment.

Have experience of surveying and in the use of GPS equipment and GIS systems.

Must have a proven track record in Geophysical analysis.

Excellent data analysis, report writing and analytical skills.

Assist in the provision of specialist geophysical services.

Willingness to work away from Home, often at short notice.

Have an appreciation of the sometimes sensitive nature of the work and understand the need to preserve the scene for further forensic investigation

Practical approach to problem solving

A background knowledge in geochemical search techniques

Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams

Supportive and collaborative team player

Confident public speaker

The work involves large amounts of manual handling and the candidate must be happy to work in varied environments and weather conditions.

Ability to concentrate for long periods whilst undertaking repetitive tasks.

Keen to explore new innovations and technical solutions to search problems.

Qualified to at least degree level in Geology/Geophysics

Must have a proven track record in Geophysical analysis - ideally in a law enforcement environment
