Oracle DBA required for a long term contract in Ireland
Experience required:
- Good understanding of the Oracle database, Installation, configuration, related utilities and tools (9i,10g,11g and 12c)
- A good understanding of the underlying operating system(Unix, Linux and Windows)
- A good knowledge of the physical database design
- Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring
- Knowledge of ALL Oracle backup and recovery scenarios
- A good knowledge of Oracle security management
- A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources
- A good knowledge Oracle data integrity and Migration
- A good knowledge on RMAN backup and recovery
- A good knowledge and hands on experience on Oracle Golden Gate/Clustering/RAC.
- Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
- A sound knowledge of both database and system performance tuning
- Should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators
- Provide a strategic database direction for the organization
- A DBA should have the ability to handle multiple Tasks and deadlines
- A good knowledge on ITIL process -Change, Problem Management
- Strong knowledge on PL/SQL-Package, procedure, Views, MVS
- Application fundamentals such as concepts and architecture
- Application Installation and configuration, Patching and Upgrades, Patch Management and Version Control, Customization Updates
- Cloning requirements. This can be frequent in an Apps environment
- Concurrent Managers, Forms/Report Servers, Web Servers
- All the database restrictions for the applications. That is so that the installation is still supportable and conforms to all vendor (Oracle) requirements.
- All special application related regular and maintenance functions. Such as month end and period end functions.
- Understand any backup and recovery constraints. Such as for table imports (NOT) and partial recoveries.
- Special requirements and restrictions for tuning. Example optimizer and index requirements.
- User Access Administration
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally and writing basic documentation
