Desired technical skills:
Minimum 3 years;
- Umbraco
- CSS, SASS, Jquery, JavaScript, HTML and AngularJS
- ASP.NET 2.0 - 4.5
- SQL Server (T-SQL, SSRS).
- TFS/SVN or other Source Control applications.
- Web API development skills.
- Rapid Iterative Testing and Design.
Desired creative skills & experience:
- Adobe Creative Suite experience.
- Excellent creativity skills and a strong understanding of UX/UI design principles.
- User Journeys, Wire Framing & Site Maps.
- Windows GUI Design/Web Application Design.
- iOS, iPhone, iPad and Android UI design (device responsive)
Introduction to the role:
An exciting and developing role to help support our rapidly growing business. We are looking for a creative Umbraco & MVC Front End Developer to support our digital aspirations and to support of realisation of our online goals and objectives.
We have a current creative and technical skills gap and we need to improve the implementation of the offline brand into digital channels. We need the creative skills to translate best online practices without compromising brand and offline collateral, utilising the Umbraco platform.
Purpose of the role:
To design, create, test, implement and support new and amended web pages and sites and to perform the day-to-day administration of our web portfolio
- in conjunction with key internal stakeholders and external affinity partners.
We suffer from too many fingers and not enough eyes. The ideal candidate should act as gatekeeper and prevent tampering' and ensure that our web presence remains accurate, compliant and that the message is cohesive.
This is Front End Umbraco platform development skills - turning requirements into creative genius - our IT team welds web functionality to and from our Back End systems.
Scope - main role responsibilities:
Web Development:
- Need to apply brand concepts developed by creative and marketing agents and ensure that execution is optimised for digital media - adhering to best digital practice without compromising continuity
- Work collaboratively to generate practical ideas to improve conversion, customer journey and overall site performance & optimisation
- Will be aware of web software and hardware developments
- Assist in the maintenance of web site integrity, applying version controls, sign-off processes and access regulation where necessary.
- Support for marketing partners through the development and provision of micro sites and landing pages with inherent tracking and sourcing.
- Assist in the population and maintenance of content through brochure ware and transaction journeys.
Technical & service delivery:
- Complete Front End builds and ensure integration into the CMS and telephony system.
- Prompt investigation of system faults, providing software and/or data fixes as appropriate.
- Select appropriate tools, templates and standards to create well designed and engineered web pages with specified content and layout.
- Conduct quality assurance testing of pages and correct any errors, fully taking into account bandwidth and browser compatibility issues.
- Excellent feedback from the end users.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of customer service principles.
- Support implementation of tracking tools - particularly Google Analytics
- We are after someone that has a technical brain and can get under the HOOD and understand how the code is deployed'.
- Management and implementation of plugins/applications as required to enhance user experience, improve site functionality or gather market intelligence.
Project delivery:
- Design, development, testing and implementation of web content based on specifications from customers and in line with our overall business objectives/digital aspirations.
- Liaison with external suppliers to ensure software development, updates and/or data is delivered on time and to specification, resolving issues where necessary.
- Phased deployment of campaigns and initiatives to ensure long term progress in our web development is achieved
Best practice:
- Remain on top of developments in the industry and make proposals as to which direction the company should take with regards to web development.
- Maintain familiarity with a substantial range of relevant web sites and participate in discussions on developments in web tools and technology.
- Anticipate customer requirements for web site usage information and obtain, analyse and present relevant data from server logs or other sources. Implement additional feedback and data gathering mechanisms where required.
- Ensure all activity is in line with current compliance and regulatory guidelines.
- New systems and enhancements designed to use the most appropriate technical platforms. System design to show evidence of options considered - enhancements to be fully documented.
- New programs and changes to be written in a style that is easy for the user to operate and maintain.
- An understanding or awareness of insurance principles; any knowledge of pet insurance would be an advantage.

Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level (IT, Mathematics or business related subjects) and 3 years commercial experience of website/software development.
