My client, a leading Public Sector Broadcaster based in Salford, have an exciting opportunity for a JavaScript developer to work on the development of their video streaming service. This is an initial 6 month contract with the view to extend.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop effective software that meets given specifications
- Write appropriate tests using automated test driven techniques for ensure code quality
- Write and review technical documentation
- Participate in the team's agile planning and delivery process
- Effectively participate in the teams software development methodologies, such as pairing, code and documentation reviewing and continuous delivery
EssentialExperience:
- Demonstrable experience developing software in a in Node.JS and potentially other Linux-based languages
- Rich web interface curation (HTML5, JavaScript, etc.) using React
- Demonstrable experience of IP Video handling (including use of encoders, video players, streaming technologies and Linux-based AV manipulation tools such as GStreamer)
- Experience designing or implementing public facing REST APIs
- Experience of supplier management, particularly in procuring agencies or outsource providers to execute software architectures or application design
- Experience in video technologies
- Developing on Cloud
- Competence test driven development
- Experience of project working and professional software development processes, including agile
Desirable Experience:
- Worked in an enterprise environment on several projects (including experience in testing, design and release)
- Experience of releasing their software to a production use case
- Participated in reviews and inspections of code (sat with a peer or someone more senior reviewing your code)
- Software Engineering or Computer Science Degree or equivalent
